Limoncello (usually pronounced...lemon-chello) is a sweet liqueur made from the zest of specific Lemons. Originating from Italy over a century ago, this tasty libation gives you the brilliant flavor of Lemon, without the tartness. Our cocktail, which is a close relative of the Lemon Drop Martini, takes the essence of Lemon libations to new heights. For our garnishes, we lined the rim of our glass with crushed Lemon Drop Candy, and also added a Lemon Button cookie. If you're a fan of the Lemon, be sure to give this one a try...the Limoncello Martini. Cheers!
2 oz. Lemonade
2 oz. 7-Up
1 Lemon Button Cookie (optional)
4 pieces of Lemon Drop Candy
1 Tbsp. of Sugar
Crush the 4 pieces of Candy. I put mine between some folded up paper towels and gave it a few taps with a hammer. Place the crushed Candy in a saucer. In another saucer, add 1 tspn. of hot water to 1 Tbspn. of Sugar. It should make a thick simple syrup. Run the rim of a Martini glass through the liquid, and then into the crushed Candy. Once the rim is well coated, set the glass aside. For the cocktail, add the Limoncello, Vodka, Lemonade, and 7-Up, to an ice filled cocktail shaker. Give it a good stir, and then strain into your Martini glass. If you want to take it up "another notch", take a serrated knife, and gently cut a slot into the bottom of a Lemon Button Cookie, and place it on the rim of your glass. The entire process takes less than 2 minutes, and if you're like me, you'll be lucky if your cocktail lasts that long. We hope you enjoy our featured cocktail, the...Limoncello Martini. Bottoms up!
